Marxist Law – Animal Farm

Animal Farm (a 1999 film based on the book by George Orwell)—This political satire is set on a small farm where the prized boar, Old Major, describes his dream of “Animal Freedom” from the lazy, drunken owners. The animals lead a revolt (think 1917 Bolshevik revolution) against the humans to take back the farm. After the revolution, the pigs, who are the cleverest animals, rule the new roost and every animal seems to be getting a fair share. The only problem is the pigs begin acting more and more like men! They lie and manipulate to remain in power and exploit those below them.

Marxist Law – Some Animals are More Equal than Others

George Orwell’s Animal Farm describes how the Communist dream in Russia quickly began to sour, as those in Stalin’s government became corrupt—just like the leaders they had overthrown in the name of revolution. A famous slogan from the book/film: “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”
