Why Did God Create Us?

Why did God create us? I believe God created us to give Himself a family. Jesus tells us to love God with our whole heart, soul, mind, and spirit. And there are countless verses throughout the Bible telling us the God is taking care of us. To me, this sounds like we are to be a family.

In the beginning, God had Jesus and the angels, but the earth was without form or inhabitants (See Genesis, chapter 1). God created the earth, bodies of water, plants and all the animals, but none of them gave God a family. So, He created man in His image. And when man fell from grace by disobeying God (Genesis 3), God already had a plan to redeem man, to bring mankind back into relationship with God.

That plan was that one day He would send His only Son, Jesus, to save mankind. We have the opportunity of accepting God's free gift of salvation.

Genesis 1:28 says, "God blessed them and said to them, 'Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.'" In other words, God also wanted people to multiply, to create a larger family, and to care for the earth and all the creatures in it.
